We live in an area where poverty is almost twice the national average. One in four children in Texas (23.3%) under the age of 5 do not know where their next meal is coming from. Texas has the second highest food insecurity rate in the U.S. for all age groups.
50% of the Waco employed people earn wages that keep them at the poverty level.
Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry is working to change these statistics on a daily basis. We assist over 2,500 families each month, including delivery to over 525 seniors who are homebound with an average of 40lbs per family at a cost of $5 per family!
